The site is outside the settlement boundary of the town of Minchinhampton
Glebe and Tobacconist Farms lie outside the settlement boundary of the town of Minchinhampton. The proposed development is an unwanted intrusion into the countryside and would result in the permanent loss of greenfield space. The abrupt boundary between the tight spaces of the town and open countryside is a key feature of Minchinhampton and its setting. The Government's highest level planning policy (the NPPF) calls for planners to refuse applications that do not respect the intrinsic value and beauty of the countryside.
