Doesn’t the school need the money?
Any financial support for the school would of course be welcome – but as a donation and not as a lever to win over a band of supporters.
The school has told us and the developers that it will play no part in the planning process. It is neither for nor against the development.
The developers have proposed but not yet submitted a Unilateral Undertaking to make their promise of £75,000 legally binding.
This promise of a financial contribution has been put forward as a material factor in favour of the application.
Given the school’s stance, this unilateral, conditional promise does not fit within national or local planning policy. It will be disregarded in assessing the pros and cons of the scheme.
We regret that the School has been brought into this matter against its wishes.
